DESCRIPTION:-
Don’t you feel like running away from thestressful city and look for a place
of seclusion amongst hills and meadows?Well, the place that you might be
looking for is Jibhi.
This is situated in the state of HimachalPradesh in the Banjar Valley.
It’s a scenic and old village that hassettled on the banks of the Tirthan
river. This gurgling river is a tributaryof the Beas river. This serves as an
integral part of the culture of Jibhi.
Constructed in an old Himalayan way, thearchitecture of the place vouches
for itself. Most of the houses are built fromstone and wood.
Galgal trees and apple orchards decorateevery backyard in the Himalayan
village. This destination has become extremelypopular among travelers in
recent years.
However, foreign tourists discovered this gemof a place more than two decades ago. Of course, during that time, there washardly any infrastructure to boost tourism in the place.
On the same note, the village is still notcompletely commercialized as the only accommodationyou’ll find are homestaysthat are run by locals.
The itinerary for the Jibhi Road Tripincludes a Serolsar Lake Trek. It’s a convenient trek from theJalohri Pass andis surrounded by thick forests.
Some famous places to visit in Jibhi areChehni Kothi and Shringa Rishi Temple.
The Chehni village is only 7 kilometers awayfrom Jibhi and the majority of the distance can becovered by cars. The roadcomes to an end almost 1 km away from the Chehni tower.
While exploring this place, you’ll pass theShringa Rishi temple that lies below Chehni at Bagivillage. This village isbuilt in a similar manner to that of the Chehni fort.
However, it’s been renovated recently.Shringa Rishi is the deity of the Banjar valley.
The Chehni Kothi has also been built in anancient Himalayan architectural style. This is a watch-tower for theneighboring Chehni village.
An interesting fact about Jibhi is that thisstructure has been withstanding environmental factorsfor more than 3centuries. Only in the earthquake of 1905 did it lose the upper twostories.
This fort is included in the itinerary forthe Jibhi Road Trip as well.
Another famous place to visit is SheshnagTemple. Within Jibhi, a short trail will lead you to theSheshnag Temple. Thisis situated right in the middle of a beautiful and lush meadow.
Just like Shringa Rishi, Sheshnag is anotherpresiding deity of the Banjar valley. Both enjoy theirdevotees’ following andworship.
The wooden architecture seems to be ancient. In fact, it’s claimed by Hansraj that the temple ismore than 500 years old. However, the actual age is still unknown.
Thus, the history of Jibhi is quitemysterious and alluring.
Spending time in the peaceful, green meadowswill be sure to calm your senses and make yourworries disappear.
When is the best time to visit Jibhi? Well, the village is definitely quiet and relaxed almost allthroughout the year, making for an amazing road trip either way.
However, the spring season is a refreshingtime where apple orchards bloom in the valley. Thus,March to May would be oneof the best months to visit the wonderful and beautiful destination astheweather in Jibhi is pleasant.
